Hi,

I'm Adam, The English Herbalist

If you want to live a life free of illness, with more energy, less stress, and just generally feeling better in yourself... you're talking to the right person.

Feel free to check out my story, read about my background and qualifications, and learn what goes into a consultation about your health and how much it costs.

Or simply get in touch!

My Story

The garden centre thief

The_English-Herbalist-Grandad

My first real introduction to plants happened through my grandfather. He'd often take me and my two sisters to a local garden centre, where he'd wander around taking little pieces of various plants. He'd then somehow transform these tiny bits of green into thriving plants back home.

He also tended a vegetable patch in the garden, which he most likely learned to do during the second world war. I remember the rhubarb most of all, perhaps simply because I could dunk it in sugar.

The other vegetables suffered greatly under the loving hands of my grandma, who boiled them to death to create a rather bland mush, devoid of all nutritional value.

My Background

I was born in England, and this is where I lived for most of my life. Situated in God's Own Country (Yorkshire) on the edge of the Peak District National Park.

I've studied Herbalism and Nutrition for more than 20 years, driven by a deep passion for knowledge about all things related to health and well-being.

As a natural health practitioner, I focus on treating the individual rather than treating the disease. I know from experience that the only way to find genuine, lasting health and happiness is to look at the whole, as well as the individual parts.

What does it mean to be an English Herbalist?

Other than being a herbalist born in England? The name carries with it the weight of history, going back 500+ years in England's rich history

John-Parkinson_The-English-Herbalist

The most famous English Herbalist is undoubtedly Dr Culpeper, known for writing The English Physician and The Complete Herbal in the mid 17th Century

Then there is the lesser-known John Parkinson. He was and apothecary, herbalist, and the Royal Botanist to King Charles I

Nicholas-Culpeper_The-English-Herbalist

He wrote Paradisi in Sole Paradisus Terrestris in 1629, a beautifully illustrated gardening book, as he was perhaps first and foremost a gardener

He followed this with Theatrum Botanicum in 1640, which was one of the largest English herbals of the time
